I am a teacher, husband, lover of all things outdoors, and adrenaline junkie. After six years teaching I have decided to enter into the Master’s of Educational Technology program at Boise State University. As an online high school teacher technology is at the core of what I do in my day to day teaching. Utilizing technology in efficient and authentic ways to engage my students in their learning is central to my teaching.

My current job is as a social studies teacher for the Minnesota Virtual Academy, an online k-12 high school based out of the Houston, MN School District in South East Minnesota. My current role has me teaching World History and Economics courses, although I also often present to my colleagues during professional development days on integrating new technologies into our teaching. I am excited to become a more effective teacher through this program learning to find ways that emerging technologies can be used to create more meaningful learning experiences for my students.

As a teacher I love seeing those little aha moments when a student is learning. As a colleague I also love to share my ideas with other teachers and help other teachers find new ways to reach students and stay inspired in their own work. It is my hope that through the Ed Tech program that I am able to become a more effective classroom teacher and also help me to start carving out a niche in education where I am having impacts outside of my own classroom as well.

This learning log that I am creating is my beginnings in this process, for now it is pretty rough, but I hope to see it grow into something much greater in the coming weeks. Still looking to learn a bit more about who I am? Check out the video below.
